Mini Mill v belts . Jan 2021
Finally after waiting for nearly three months the post office finally delivered the belts ordered from little machine shop in the USA.
The belts are going to be used on the mini mill when the plastic gears finally give inn.
Chuck and key and spare key. Jan 2021.
New 1/2 ' Unc drill chuck and spare key to replace the chuck on the tapping jig.
Bought at a local Builders ware house.
Tap and die set 6 m/m to 24 m/m. August 2020
Latest acquisition a metric course and fine tap and die set purchased locally from Adendorf machinery and tool suppliers . The equipment is made in china , it looks good and will test it , to get a feel of the quality.
Aluminum drill press vice January 2020.
An other delivery from Banggood this time a replacement for an broken M 8 tap and an aluminum drill press vice .
This particular vice is made for very light work . Very poor quality , looks nice but I have a feeling that it will be of limited use.
Square + Dial indicator January 2020
Today an other shipment from Banggood a very nice 80 x 125 precision square and a small dial indicator , very nicely packed and it looks like nice quality.
The Dial indicator is very versatile and has three dove tails machined in the indicator body so can be used in different positions . Suiting the job at hand provided you have the correct holder if not available one has to make an holder.
Picture top right a holder made 15 -01-2021 ,to fit in the mini mill 10 mm Collet, and can be used to tram the mill vice.
Shop Drill press vice made in India December 2019
latest acquisition an 3" drill press vice made in India. It looks better quality than my other vice that was made in china but time will tell.
Digital height gauge November 2019
Supplied by Bangood a digital height gauge 0-150 mm there are bigger ones but for the work I do and the type of machinery i use this to me looks like the correct size it will come in very handy it looks like good quality and we are very happy with our new purchase
.
A marking vernier caliper October 2019
An other new instrument I often used a vernier to make markings on a piece of material I am setting out but was never very happy about that . A vernier is a precision instrument and should not be used for that purpose.
Then I saw this instrument advertised at a very attractive price, 0-200 mm.
It is made from stainless steel with a roller on one side and a tungsten scribe on the other side. Plus a spare scribe in the pouch marvelous.
Center drills , counter sank end mills lathe tools etc September 2019
An other consignment arrived from china.
And I am delighted with the Counter sunk end mills
The center drills are so well priced I bought two setts.
The carbide lathe tools are a bit under sized but I will make use of them.

Very happy with the last two additions a set of spiral taps and a set of end mills specially for the Emco Unimat SL milling machine. What I like about the end mills is that all the shanks are the same diameter namely 6mm . So simply one col let fits all

Digital 150 M/M vernier May 2019
Just acquired a new tool a 150 m/m stainless steel digital vernier . this is a first and is sold by a local supplier but as all other tools and machines they sell it is made in China but I am happy with the precision and look forward to using it.The Supplier is www.adendorff.co.za .

The latest addition to my home work shop a 200 m/m wheel Bench Grinder for sharpening my drills bits and lathe cutting tools.

200 Amp arc welder DC inverter
Swapped my old oil cooled welder for a new toy at a very good price.
A Mat-weld 200 Amp arc welder DC inverter
This little welder works marvelous it weight 10 Kg, has a carrying handle and a shoulder strap and is totally portable.
It strikes an arc very easy and gives a great weld. It is so easy to work with. And can be taken in to any little nook and cranny ,it takes up very little storage space, which is ideal for my hobby home work shop
Air compressor
My latest acquisition, a 2 HP single face air compressor with an 24 l air tank. operating at 5Kg/cm square . It also has an pressure reduction valve fitted , in case I want to do some spray painting with a low pressure spray Painting gun.
This compressor is also fitted with an pressure switch and safety valve. One can leave it switched on , it will try and keep your air pressure constant a very nice and necessary feature if it is used constantly.
I will mainly be using the compressor for cleaning purposes in my home work shop.
New Chinese chucks for a Taiwanese lathe
Finally found a new set of chucks for my old Taiwanese lathe.
The fortunate part is that both the three jaw and for jaw chucks are the same dimensions as the original chuck that came with the lathe on the negative side is that I have to dismantle the backing plate every time I change a chuck .
Clock gauge and magnetic base.
Picture on the left an other new toy a magnetic base and clock gauge to be used on the lathe if I want to do very accurate work . I will make an special steel shelf to clamp it on to when the clock gauge is in use.
