Picked up a brand new lathe still bolted down in the original box it came in from the factory in China, minus a chuck the steady , and most of the gears and tools.  This lathe has been sitting in someone’s garage for several years. Now it is due for a good clean up and lubrication service . Cleaned up the lathe and a 125 m/m  spare three yaw chuck was fitted. A lathe stand has been made to fit this lathe .

The machine was test run with no load , and I am very happy with what I have seen so far next stop will be testing the machine out under load and see what it is capable of. There was no manual  with the machine it also got lost or was misplaced. It seems impossible to obtain a manual either from the manufacturer or on the internet

The lathe on its stand  with an tray in its permanent position in my 3m X 2.45m home workshop. For safety sake the castors have been removed .The lathe stand is not painted,  paint and myself are not very good friends so it most properly never will get A coat of paint . I also finally found an manual for the lathe but it is in French so apart from the pictures it is of little use to me.

Home made change gears.

The first home made gear installed it is a 48 teeth gear this number was chosen for the simple reason that it was the only fraction plate I possessed at the time  we are working on improving that situation. The original automatic feed can be used but the finish is not satisfactory a main driving gear of thirty teeth is essential. and the next project. Made an 30 teeth gear on my mini mill I made it twice the thickness so I can cut it in half and will have two 30 teeth change wheels those wheels where made in Feb 2021.

After cutting the 30 teeth gear in half So I have now a pair and picture top left I am cutting the 5mm key way in it with my home made key way cutter.

The 30 teeth gear fitted to the lathe and tested the automatic feed is now almost usable but still to fast for my liking. We will have to make some more gears to use the lathe for cutting treads.

Picture top right in the progress of making a 35 teeth gear.

The finished 35 teeth gear al to be done now is cut the 5 mm key way.

Center picture a tray made to try and keep as the swarf  of the ways and protect them.

Adaptor studs fitted to chucks.

19 October 2021 finally made a change to the way the chucks are fitted to the lathe. It used to be with allen cap srews and it was time consuming changin the chucks so I made spacers and studs and fitted them to the chucks it makes live so much easier to make any changes.
